The unexpexted Nusa Penida part 2

Actualizado: 1 nov 2020

Diving at Nusa Penida

We took half a day to experience the diving in this small island, we were expecting to see the Mantas and the Mola Mola's!! The Sanctum Dive was chosen to be our dive-center as it had been recomended by a guy we met few days ago. Indeed, the owners and the workers were very nice and funny and, although we couldn't see the mola mola's, we did two amazing dives. If you want more information go to Diving Nusa Penida.

After a brief lunch at the same dive-center we took our bikes to resume our journey. This time we were going to explore the southwest coast.

Broken beach and Angels Billabong

As always the unpaved roads were pretty difficuld. Lukily we had two experienced drivers among us. When we got there we found a small restaurant close to a almoust full parking. Of course we had to pay 5.000 UDR to leave the bikes there.

The Angels Billabong is a gorgeous water inlet from the see. The formation of the rocks makes different amazing natural pools with very transparent water.

If you follow the small path you'll get to one of the most astonishing places of the island. The Broken beach. Over the years, the force of the waves had been breaking against the cliff to make this incredible view.

Not so far from Broken beach there is a spot in the mountains from where you can see the Manta Point. If you are lucky and the sun is in the right position you may be able to see the mantas from the mountain. Even though we weren't lucky enough, the views are very nice from there.

The day was almost over and suddenly we found the beginning of the sunset. Everybody had already started to go home, even the animals, so feeling a little tired we just did the same.

Kelingking beach

The next morning we woke up not so early and we took our time having breakfast at the garden of our apartments. It felt like a new fresh start, although we had a sad feeling as our adventure at Nusa Penida was getting over.

Kelingking beach is the most photographed place of the island. It is also called as T-REX mountain becouse of the shape of the cliff.

There are a lot of tourists taking pictures from above but not so many adventure the descend to the beach. As we still had many places to go and we had already confirmed the dificulties of the ups and downs of this island we decided to watch it from the top.

Seganing waterfall

The Seganing waterfall used to be the main source of water for the people that are living somewhere near there. However, currently, people would use the Seganing Waterfall as a fishing spot as well as the place for recreational activities such as camping and swimming. Apart from that, the local people there also would come to this Waterfall to take some water for their particular religious ceremony.

The way down is quite difficult. I have to say that I didn't had the courage to do it. All the people that were going up had a really tired face over them.

Tembeling Forest and beach

Tembeling Beach and Forest is a beautiful park nestled within jungle. This is a Nusa Penida secret place as not so many people come here becouse of the small road. Once you reach the main entrance, a challenging, steep downhill will lead you to a parking. You can leave the bike at the top if you are not confident enough with the way down. The trek takes around 30 minutes and the landscape is very beautiful. From the second parking area it’s a 10 minute walk to the pools and beach.

Small temples located in a cave and fresh water that flows out of a number of spouts. These are used as a cleansing process, to wash away any sins. At the center there is a bright blue pool which is the largest and the deepest of them.

Following the next stairs, you will get to another pool which is smaller but it is perfectly located right on the beach with waves crashing behind, surrounded by huge cliffs and hidden away by jungle.

Right beside the pool is Tembeling beach. Not so much of a beach but quite beautiful. Huge cliffs dwarf the little bay and the waves are quite intimidating. There is another beach hidden by a small cave at the other side of the pool. The pathway is full of balanced pebbles patiently placed on one another creating a cluster of temple-like structures. Creating a very interesting view to see.

After 4 days in this unexpected island we took our ferry back to Bali. If you want to continue reading about the trip click to The Southern Bali. To know a little bit more about it click at The magic Bali Island.
